Finally able to provide some details about the "Collective Works" award I got through the Song of the Year contest. I'd sent them some of my newer tunes, including Ella Mae and Old Crow, and they all "scored extremely high, showing consistency in songwriting excellence across various works." Ella Mae looks at the importance of love during wartime, from a parent's point of view, and Old Crow is about the wisdom that may be all around us, if we choose to see it. The award came as a complete surprise and is a nice bit of recognition, considering it's from an international competition. It also includes a page on their website, which you can check out here. Certainly gives me incentive to keep writing!!
